6 Rules For Making Slow Cooker Oatmeal

01 Don't use rolled oats.

02 Do use steel cut oats or oat groats.

03 Oil your slow cooker for easier clean-up.

04 &/or use a higher fat nondairy milk like soy or oat

05 Soak the crockpot all day

06 Clean up will be easy!

Do use steel-cut oats

They are up for the long cooking time and will become creamy as they cook overnight.

The night before

1. Add all the ingredients except the toppings. 2. Cook on low overnight (7 to 9 hours).

In the morning

Stir your oatmeal well. It may seem watery at the top but if stirred it should be a more uniform consistency.

Sprinkle on the topping

And add extra non-dairy milk  if you want. That's the way I like it!
